20 Warning Signs That Your Content Sucks

I am 9 out of 20 for suck. Quick, somebody send me some fan mail, send me some hate mail and go back in time to get me to give this list to my 17-year-old self. Thanks!

  1. I'm not going to ask which nine, but there are seven or eight of these points I'd argue with.

Ultimately, I don't think you should use someone else's "suck" scale, especially in this case. Copywriting and Fiction writing are two very different beasts, and the post you reference says to me that the writer thinks all blogs are the same and people want the same things from them.

More important questions: Are you enjoying what you're doing? Does it make you happy? Is it worthwhile/does it further your writing goals? Keep doing it.

  2. I'm very high on the suckage list, if it's any consolation.

  3. I'm with Lance... I'm an online editor at my day job at a major daily and I'd argue MORE THAN A FEW of those points.

And btw, as far as fan mail, my man ... you're awesome.

Forget that list...Baffles me that it was retweeted almost 750 times.

  4. That's such a terrible article! My goodness. I suppose if you somehow want to be a full-time blogger making a living on it (yeah, good luck with that) you could take it seriously, but yeesh. I think I won't.
