About my writing:
Some of my work has been published and is for sale. My fiction is often funny, but that's only because the most dangerous things in the world are the ones that look the most harmless. I write poems, advice columns on writing and the writing life, and lot of flash fiction, the kind that encapsulates a single scene. My writing deals with people and their emotions – hopes, fears, regrets, confusions, joys – the whole range of what makes life vibrant. This is true whether I'm writing science fiction, horror, fantasy or literary fiction.
My current work in progress is about a superhero who's trying to defeat his arch-enemy, hire a reliable assistant, and woo a college professor (not necessarily in that order). It's the third novel for me, and, since the first two were starters, it's the best by far. I'm not quite sure yet what my next book will look like, but I'll know it when I see it.
About me, personally:
I'm a middle child, born in St. Louis, MO back when the world was young and innocent. Although I'm a bit of a smart ass, I'm getting better about it. I lived in Chicago and mid-Michigan before moving to the Philadelphia suburbs in 1999. I'm married, with two sons, two daughters, and one dog. I own a lot of power tools, several firearms, and I measure my books by the linear foot.
